On behalf of the Board of Directors, welcome to our web site. We feel very privileged that our benefactor, Dorothy B. Farrington, has provided us with the opportunity to preserve a significant part of early Santa Clara history and to make a significant impact on our community through our proactive approach to philanthropy.

The Farrington Historical Trust was established in 1974 to hold the historic Farrington House in trust for use by the Junior League of San Jose. Under the terms of the original Trust, Mrs. Dorothy B. Farrington gave the Junior League of San Jose the privilege of using the estate as its headquarters with the Foundation administering the house and grounds. The house, received by the Foundation, was left with its original furniture, fixtures, an extensive archival library containing books of early California, vintage documents and correspondence, antique clothing and hat collections dating from the 1880's and a wealth of other items of historical interest. The Trust was incorporated on November 21, 1996 as the Farrington Historical Foundation and is governed by a board of directors. The Farrington Historical Foundation now also acts as a grant making organization for other nonprofit organizations headquartered in or serving Santa Clara County.

The Farrington Historical Foundation endeavors to preserve the legacy of the past, contribute positively to our local community, and promote an appreciation of our heritage.

The mission of the Farrington Historical Foundation is to preserve and restore the Farrington house and grounds as an example of Santa Clara Valley’s historic past and as the headquarters of the Junior League of San Jose, Inc. The Foundation is committed to supporting nonprofit entities that improve the quality of life for the citizens of Santa Clara County.
